Skip the high-stress regimens, the strict protocols, the constant self-monitoring, and age without fear, and without losing the pleasure of being alive."

About Mediterranean Longevity

Somewhere along the way, aging became something to optimize. A project with metrics and protocols, a problem to be solved before it’s even arrived. I think that’s a mistake, and a joyless one.

Your body isn’t a machine to be hacked; it’s a life to be lived. This is a publication for people who want to age well without turning their own bodies into a to-do list. No biohacking, no fear, no thirty-step morning routine. Just the slower truth, which is that a long, good life is built from ordinary things done consistently: how you eat, how you move, how you sleep, who you sit at the table with.

I’m a longevity mentor and writer, 59, living on Mallorca since 2013. I started writing about Mediterranean living and longevity in 2018, the way most people come to this work, by living long enough to have questions. Mallorca shaped a lot of what I think, though it isn’t really the subject here, it’s just one lived example. The principles travel; they’d work in a city apartment or a small town just as well.

I write as someone a little ahead on the same road, not above it. I’m aging too. I get things wrong, change my mind, and try to stay honest about what the research supports and what’s just hope wearing a lab coat. I’m not against help, I take Omega-3 and magnesium and I’ll tell you why. I’m against the industry that’s made a fortune convincing you that getting older is a failure you can purchase your way out of.

What you can expect

One or two pieces a week: a habit worth keeping, a longevity myth worth retiring, a story from my own life or the lives around me. Something to think about, something to try, and permission to enjoy yourself while you do it.

I write for midlife, roughly 45 to 65, though the work doesn’t check IDs. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by wellness culture and suspect there’s a calmer way to do this, you’re who I’m writing for.

A small gift, before you go further

If you're tired of being treated as a project by the wellness industry, I made something for you. Permission Slip is a small book of thirty things you're allowed to stop doing in the name of wellness: the trackers, the protocols, the supplements you can't remember why you bought, the morning routine that hasn't made you feel better in two years. It's free, it arrives the moment you subscribe, and it's the closest thing I have to a hello.

A little more, for paid subscribers

Paid subscribers get two more things. The Longevity Self-Tests, a gentle way to take stock of where you are right now, no pressure to be anywhere else, just a place to begin. And each month, a downloadable calendar of the season's fruits and vegetables, made to be printed and kept in the kitchen, so eating with the seasons becomes obvious instead of one more thing to remember.

If you want to go further

Sometimes what a reader needs isn't another essay, it's a conversation. If you're standing at a threshold, your body changing, a moment that shook something loose, or both at once, which is usually how it arrives, I offer a single conversation, an hour, just the two of us. Not a program, not a protocol. Someone a little further down the same road, meeting you in it.

Tell me a little about yourself:

Mentorship

More than 1,800 readers have decided that how they age is worth paying attention to. I’d be glad to count you among them.

Warmly,
Elena
